Vattenfall logo
Master thesis
Vattenfall Research & Development
2007 - 2008, Ă„lvkarleby, Sweden
Vattenfall is one of Europe's leading Energy Companies, with more than 100 years of supplying energy to homes and industry. I joined their Research & development division for my master thesis. The goal of the thesis was to study the forces inflicted upon a hydropower generator foundation, with a secondary aim to explain the stress-induced cracks observed at some locations. Through both an analytical process and by using nonlinear finite element calculations, several interesting connections between the model and real-world measurements was found.

As a complement to my studies, I got some practical experience as a Work manager. I managed a few smaller projects and supported the teams on different work sites, doing everything from making sure they had what they needed to revising blueprints and calculations.

Poker Companion logo
Founder
Poker companion
2004 - 2005, LuleĂĄ, Sweden
I financed most of my studies through online Poker, mainly playing very intense heads-up Texas Hold'em. This is a high-variance game, with huge swings back and forth. To support my decision making, I built a native desktop application in C++ that gave me fold vs all-in odds depending on my hole cards and the stack sizes at the table. I also built a web version and was planning to expand into tournament bubble/Sit'N'Go type situations, but never got around to it.

Eldid logo
Founder
Eldid
2003 - 2005, LuleĂĄ, Sweden
Eldid was pixel graphic role-playing game running in the web browser with a PHP backend, complete with character screen, monsters, levelling, dungeons, skill trees, cooking, factions, you name it. The game was hosted on my own hardware in my student dorm, DNS server, email processing and anything else needed. The project was extremely ambitious and never launched. I am still looking to bringing the story of Eldid to the world. One day!

Lightloop
2000 - 2002
Hooked on photography, I built a web application where users could upload, categorise and process their photos. You could discover photos uploaded by other users. I was planning to also allow users to sell or “rent” their photos via Lightloop, but after doing some research into payment solutions I shelved that idea.

Pirate
1998 - 2002
As part of the elusive global scene of pirates and couriers, I operated a high-performance FTP server (glFTPD) running 10x SCSI disks in a raid-0 configuration and 2x Gigabit network interfaces. I learned a huge amount of Linux administration, security, scheduling and scripting. The server was well known in the tight community, and was at one point the fastest pirate server in the world.
